Sound Design

Task 1 For this task I had to record 10-15 different sounds/sound effects from one location. I decided to record the hallway right outside my class. The reason for this is mostly because of the familiarity of my environment. That familiarity allowed me to easily pick up on where to record and what to record. All in all, the true purpose of this task was to, familiarise myself with not only the equipment involved in recording audio, but also the process of recording the audio itself. Through this process, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of how many factors can affect the audio recording process. From aspects such as how gain affects the amount of sound data that's recorded, to the placement of the mic in relation to the subject. Task 1 Experimental Film

Final Film: Pre-Production Synopsis: In the distant future, humans are gone. In their place, advanced androids, nearly inseparable from humans, live on and continue to maintain the Earth under the command and supervision of The System. That is until one android starts to exhibit strange behaviour. Story: Ergo is about a nameless android who follows the commands it's been issued by The System, it receives commands at the start of the day, to act like a human. It does this for a while, however, we learn that this is not the life the android wants for itself, it is capable of more but gets tied down by the System and its commands. However, through its own efforts, it works to go against the System and prove its free will. To take a closer look at its themes, with this film, I'm looking at depression and dissociation. There are a number of people who are living their lives the same exact way every day without change, not actually being present in what's happening in their live...

Task 2 Experimental Sound Work

About the Art and Artist This artwork is the Astral Clocktower by Ipan Hf . He is a concept artist based in Indonesia and specialises in environment concept art and illustration. Other than this n ot much is known about the artist, except that for this artwork he was inspired by the video game Bloodborne . The artwork is in the style of concept art, made to look like it came directly from the game's planning documents. The location of the Astral Clocktower is an actual area within the game's downloadable content, The Old Hunter.
